Big D vs. Big B

This is for the local Dallas sports fans…

Men who love sports, especially football, are more like women than we care to admit to ourselves. In most areas, we are extremely straight forward and overtly logical in our approach to just about every aspect of our lives, except sports. And here in the Big D, football is paramount…to the point of being irrational…

Prime example: our beloved Dallas Cowboys are currently be held hostage by "the Tuna," Big Bill Parcells. We are being held hostage by a man who cannot decide whether or not to return as head coach to America’s team. Now the real crime is that we are captivated by great Big Bill who, during his reign here, turned out barely a 500 record with really nothing to be proud of and a whole lotta’ shame to be had: Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson, Vinny Testaverde, and Drew Bledsoe…and that’s just the quarterback position! So over four years under Parcells the record shows itself: 34-30 (.531), and meanwhile…

Our forgotten Dallas Mavericks, defending 2005-2006 Western Conference Champions, are leading the NBA at midpoint with 33-8 (.805) and actually winning at home too! As for head coaches…last year’s NBA head coach of the year, Avery Johnson…a man who can coach!

So maybe the time has arrived for a major paradigm shift for Big B…maybe we can start doing what we do best…supporting a winning team: the Dallas Mavericks, yes, the Dallas Mavericks…and then maybe Jerry Jones can realize if he wants $$$ for that nice new awesome stadium, he needs to make some big decisions himself:
Fire himself as GM and finally hire someone who knows what he’s doing. (Stay owner, Jerry, or let junior take-over. We love the way you spend your money…keep it up)
Drop that waste of $10 million dollars called T. El Dorado O. And spend that $5 million bonus on some offensive linemen…for the love of God, give Romo some help.
And pray that Bill makes a decision this week…else you’re stuck hiring a whole new group of assistant coaches...’cause if you have to hire a head coach, your pickings are slim since all the good ones seem to keep leaving/being fired (Landry, Johnson, Turner, Payton, just to name a few recent ones). I guess the Cowboys’ franchise knows how to groom coaches (Reeves, Ditka, Payton), but can’t hire the good ones up (Campo?)

Would Avery being willing to coach football?

My prediction for next Dallas Cowboys' head coach and coordinators:
1. Head Coach: Ron Rivera
2. Offensive Coordinator: Jason Garrett
3. Defensive Coordinator: Mike Singletary
[And unfortunately Jerry remains GM, but at least he's no Al Davis]
