This is for the local Dallas sports fans…
Men who love sports, especially football, are more like women than we care to admit to ourselves. In most areas, we are extremely straight forward and overtly logical in our approach to just about every aspect of our lives, except sports. And here in the Big D, football is paramount…to the point of being irrational…
Prime example: our beloved Dallas Cowboys are currently be held hostage by "the Tuna," Big Bill Parcells. We are being held hostage by a man who cannot decide whether or not to return as head coach to America’s team. Now the real crime is that we are captivated by great Big Bill who, during his reign here, turned out barely a 500 record with really nothing to be proud of and a whole lotta’ shame to be had: Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson, Vinny Testaverde, and Drew Bledsoe…and that’s just the quarterback position! So over four years under Parcells the record shows itself: 34-30 (.531), and meanwhile…
Our forgotten Dallas Mavericks, defending 2005-2006 Western Conference Champions, are leading the NBA at midpoint with 33-8 (.805) and actually winning at home too! As for head coaches…last year’s NBA head coach of the year, Avery Johnson…a man who can coach!
So maybe the time has arrived for a major paradigm shift for Big B…maybe we can start doing what we do best…supporting a winning team: the Dallas Mavericks, yes, the Dallas Mavericks…and then maybe Jerry Jones can realize if he wants $$$ for that nice new awesome stadium, he needs to make some big decisions himself:
Fire himself as GM and finally hire someone who knows what he’s doing. (Stay owner, Jerry, or let junior take-over. We love the way you spend your money…keep it up)
Drop that waste of $10 million dollars called T. El Dorado O. And spend that $5 million bonus on some offensive linemen…for the love of God, give Romo some help.
And pray that Bill makes a decision this week…else you’re stuck hiring a whole new group of assistant coaches...’cause if you have to hire a head coach, your pickings are slim since all the good ones seem to keep leaving/being fired (Landry, Johnson, Turner, Payton, just to name a few recent ones). I guess the Cowboys’ franchise knows how to groom coaches (Reeves, Ditka, Payton), but can’t hire the good ones up (Campo?)
Would Avery being willing to coach football?

No Home, No Sense
Preface: need to read the following “news” article:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,244523,00.html
So many points to address in the lack of common sense being displayed in the “current event” that Fox News decided to report...Suing the Homeless…where to start? I’ll break it down so you can decide while I report…
Suing four homeless men for a million dollars…Does this meet the criteria for frivolous? Has the legal system been hijacked from providing justice in favor of dispensing compensation?
I can think of numerous cases that have surfaced to the level of “newsworthy” and I am left still wondering if the Courts are lead by the Moral Compass of jurisprudence or the Geiger Counter of nihilism
The moral compass of jurisprudence would be the common sense approach in understanding the purpose of law and the just enforcement of established laws without prejudice except for objective truth
The Geiger counter of nihilism would be the apparent state in which the affairs of men can be deconstructed to: the survival of the offended relies on the debasement of defendant. The radioactive reaction that ensues makes some of the best “reality” or dramatic television which yields winners for both, apparently. Yes I, the offended victim, can gain “just” compensation when nothing is left of my perpetrator, the so-called “defendant.” Yet if the defendant can receive a fair commercial endorsement, Lifetime movie, or TV series episode, then the crime can yield an explosive profit. For example when a murderer who is acquitted, years later “earns” millions of dollars to write an “historically fictitious” book about “if” he actually did it.
Obviously the nihilistic culture of narcissism is much more entertaining today than objective judgment of an experienced law scholar. Who is more entertaining? Judge Judy or Judge Scalia? Who dispenses compensation and who provides justice? Who’s got the moral compass and who’s using the Geiger counter?
Homeless taking advantage of the charitable use of tax dollars. Is it really charity when one is compelled to pay via taxes to support a shelter?
Let us not fool ourselves to think that our tax “contributions” rise to the level of charity or tithing. Shelters supported by tax dollars are morally equivalent to “public education.” State schools are not providing education just as State shelters are not providing homes. A home is made by those who dwell within called a family and an education is provided primarily by those who raise their children, called parents.
Those who manage or “take advantage” of these shelters can never be surrogate families because the whole concept of a shelter relies on temporary protection.
And as for Ms. Shelly Nortz, with her typical activist mentality (contrary to common sense though softhearted)…the reality is that every single individual does have a place to stay, whether or not that they stay there (temporarily right?) is their choice. And what does “home” really mean?
Home is where I stay, dwell-in with those closest to me. If someone is paid to be/stay with me, isn't that person not "prostituting" themselves upon the less fortunate? Regardless of the good intentions, it is still a shelter.
So don’t misunderstand my common sense here, nor my Christian obligation to provide for those in need. Christ challenges us not provide shelter for the homeless, but in fact we are called to make a home with them. In order to do that, we must not loose sight of what a home really is and what a just society can do in order to protect families. When we miss the boat on family and home, we begin to make no sense.

Cold War Yields Cold Feet
We have forgotten the lessons prior to the Cold War; there is good and evil, and the enemy is defeated by dominance not appeasement. Liberty is good, tyranny is evil. Dominance is demonstrated with the strength of a swift, precise military force fighting against the evil forces that seek to destroy liberty.
Fascist groups have always had a terrorist mindset with a particular focus on the destruction of all that stands for truth, the good, and the beautiful. Truth can be found in such phrases as “…endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights…” The good can be written with beginnings like “We the People…” And the beautiful can be heard in lyrics like “…And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!”
The Cold War has given us the lesson that deterrence-type defensive strategies lead only to a stalemate not victory. This gives the enemy time to regroup, resettle, and reignite. In a stalemate, the enemy learns to disguise evil with its promotion of tolerance and moral equivalency. During a stalemate, the enemy rewrites history so the idle easily forget who is who in the battle between good and evil. The battle lines are simply hidden by the shadow of loose borders, de-militarized zones, and militia-occupied territories.
Terrorist nations are learning the lessons of the Cold War. For example, Iran can sustain a silent war within a sovereign nation, like the young democratic state of Lebanon, by transforming the hearts of the Lebanese who once spoke-up for “Freedom, Sovereignty, and Independence” to its new Nazrallah slogan: “Death to America…and no solution…except with the disappearance of Israel.”
Groups like Hezbollah have learned that its longevity exists in transforming itself into a "legitimate" political party, yet without the loss of its military strong arm. The future of global power rests in the war between "The West" and "The Rest." The West has become complacent in its global influence while "The Rest" patiently wait for the moment to rise and conquer (not appease) its enemy. And who is the leading political force behind "The Rest?" It is the rise of terrorism…while The West remains stiff with cold feet.
